Hon. Satang Nabaneh, LL.D., Ph.D., is a Member of the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (ACERWC) and serves as the Special Rapporteur on Violence Against Children. An award-winning interdisciplinary scholar, human rights practitioner, and global policy voice whose work advances gender equality, children’s rights, constitutionalism, and Global South leadership in international law, accountability within regional and international human rights systems, and transitional justice. Across her scholarship and public engagement, she places particular emphasis on centering historically marginalized voices within global legal and policy frameworks. Her scholarship and public engagements have appeared in academic journals, diverse platforms, and prominent media outlets, including The New York Times, Reuters, and Time. Recognized for her impactful contributions, she was named one of 10 exceptionally talented African scholars to watch in 2024 by The Africa Report and by the New African as one of the “100 Most Influential Young Africans” in 2025. Working at the intersection of research, policy, and practice, Dr. Nabaneh partners with universities, foundations, and international institutions to shape legal norms, inform continental decision-making, and translate human rights ideas into actionable protection on the ground.
